Every Lovatt Construction Consultants engagement is led, signed, and personally counter-signed by:
Dave Lovatt
MRICS · MCIOB · MQSI · FACQP · MiConstM
Owner and principal of the firm.
The principal is the only person who responds to a first enquiry, the only person who signs an engagement letter, and the only person who counter-signs a chartered deliverable before issue. There is no layer between the client and the named principal on any Lovatt engagement.
Personal accreditations carried by the named principal:
| Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors | Member — reg 0905543 · SPA route October 2023 |
| Chartered Institute of Building | Member — reg TBC |

Firm-level identifiers:

All chartered deliverables — cost plans, valuations, RCAs, claims responses, condition reports, opinion letters — are personally reviewed and signed by Dave Lovatt before issue, regardless of how the draft was produced. “Signed” means the document carries Dave’s name, his accreditation strip, the date of signing, and (where the deliverable warrants it) the firm’s RICS-regulated firm reference. No deliverable leaves the firm under any other signature.
Lovatt Construction Consultants Ltd and 1 Oak Projects Ltd share common ownership. Dave Lovatt holds a 50% interest in 1 Oak Projects.
We disclose this on every engagement letter, on this page, and on the ecosystem page of this site — because transparency is a value, not a policy.
Where any conflict could arise — typically when 1 Oak Projects is one of the contractors being considered on a scheme Lovatt has been engaged to advise on — the conflict is recorded in writing on the engagement letter, and an independent QS leads the contractor evaluation and procurement decision. Lovatt steps out of the procurement evaluation step at that point. Our professional obligations and RICS-aligned standards protect our clients in every scenario.
If anything goes wrong with a Lovatt Construction Consultants engagement, raise it directly with Dave Lovatt in the first instance — dave@lovattconsultants.co.uk. Most issues resolve at this stage, in writing, within seven working days.
If we cannot resolve the matter together, the next step is the RICS Dispute Resolution Service, which provides independent mediation and arbitration for chartered-firm matters:
RICS Dispute Resolution Service

The RICS DRS process is independent of Lovatt and follows published RICS procedures.
The standard engagement terms applied to every Lovatt engagement are set out in the engagement letter issued at the start of each engagement. These cover scope, fee, deliverables, liability, PI cover, intellectual property, confidentiality, data, and termination. A full set of engagement terms is available on request before any commitment is made; the relevant variant is also issued as part of each fee proposal.
Personal data submitted through the website’s enquiry form is processed only for the purpose of responding to your enquiry. We do not share it with third parties or use it for marketing without your separate consent. Submissions are stored only as long as needed to respond.
This page is reviewed at each RICS firm renewal (~10 November) and at each PI insurance renewal. Material changes — change of insurer, change of accreditation, change of complaints procedure — are reflected here within seven days of the change.
